Facebook Ad Targeting allows you to break down your customer to the nitty gritty stuff including:
- Demographics—age, gender, marital status
- Career—education, income, job title
- Location—where they are now, where they will be, where they want to go
- Interests—books, sports, hobbies, entertainment, etc.,
- Activities—traveling, what they purchase online, etc.,
- Life Events—getting married or engaged, new job, just moved
Now that you know what Facebook Ad Targeting is, how should you use it for your own ads?
It’s as simple as inputting the information you have on your ideal customer and letting Facebook do its magic!
Any time you go to set up an ad on Facebook Ads Manager, you will have the option to create your own audience or use an old audience. If you’ve never created an audience before this is how you use Facebook Ad Targeting to identify who you want to reach with your advertisement.
Here’s an example of a Homebuilder and Contractor audience we use here at LeadCrossing:
Income: $75,000 to $250,000 annually
Age: 35 years and up
Job Title: Contractor, Homebuilder, Owner
Interests: National Association of Home Builders, builderonline.com, probuilder.com, sports (football/baseball), family
Education: Some College, College, MBA
Marital Status: Married
Life Event: Owns their own house
*Any Facebook profile that meets one or more of these criteria will be tagged by Facebook to see your advertisement!
You don’t have to fill in all of the options available to you to create an audience. Only fill in the information Facebook needs to find your audience, anything extra will have a hard time reaching your ideal prospects if the search is too big or too small.
